Is the crisis affecting your skin? As these days weren’t trying enough, now your skin is acting up as well

When you’re dealing with a skin condition like acne or rosacea , you probably know that a good skin day depends on many factors and triggers. Common triggers for this type of skin conditions are stress and anxiety, something many are experiencing at the moment due to the unusual situation the world is in right now.
Unfortunately, our favorite treatment for dealing with troubled skin, Kleresca®, is currently difficult to obtain as many clinics are closed due to the COVID-19.
BUT it doesn’t mean you should give up! We’ve gathered here a few tips for lowering your stress level and anxiety – all to be done from the comfort of your home of course!
1. Tune out of social media and in on yourself
Social media, news channels, and pretty much anything these days are flooded with COVID-19 news, and we’re not saying there’s anything wrong with staying updated. But more often than not, being glued to your devices for the latest news on the crisis does not help your stress or anxiety – more like the opposite.
So, agree with yourself that you’ll only check in once or twice a day to stay updated, and otherwise tune it out. Spend this gift of time on tuning in on you, do what makes you happy as reading a book, meditating, cooking, running, dancing in your living room, singing in your shower, or binge-watching your favorite show. It’s about letting your brain and body relax by not thinking of the crisis all the time.
All in all, it’s about removing yourself from the source of your stress or anxiety.
2. Don’t overdo it
Step back from the mirror and keep your hands in your pockets. We know how tempting it is to go crazy in creams, washes, and the worst of them all, picking(!), when your skin is acting up. You do it with good intentions to fight the outbreak, but actually, you’re slowly picking your skin apart – and maybe you’re even creating scars on the way!
Pew, what a thought, let’s not do that. How you might ask? That’s the best part. Just do nothing! Follow your usual beauty routines and just don’t overdo it – no matter how tempting it might be.
3. Call your bestie
… or mom, sister, grandmother, favorite colleague, whoever you always want to call, but never have the time to. Now is the time!
Most of us are not busy going anywhere these days, so we do actually have the time to talk on the phone (or Skype, Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, etc.) for hours.
Spend this chance to lean back in your couch and reconnect with the ones you’ve passed by for too long due to everyday tasks and chores.
Not only does this relieve you of a thing you’ve wanted to do for a long time, but it is also proven that talking to others relieves stress and anxiety.
4. Keep on laughing
It can be difficult to laugh during a crisis, either because you’re personally affected by the situation or because you feel guilt over being happy in a time like this. We get that the situation is not fun but laughing really is good for your health and may relieve stress by relieving your stress response and relieving tension by relieving your muscles.
5. Contact your favorite clinic - and maybe buy a gift certificate for your next treatment
Why buy a gift certificate for a treatment now when the clinics are close?
Firstly, because supporting your local clinic through this crisis might be the reason it can open again afterwards.
Secondly, because you’re giving yourself something to look forward to – and who wouldn’t like something to joyfully look forward to in these days?
